What do I get when I buy a The Cheesecake Shop Franchise?

The Cheesecake Shop outlets produce and retail a comprehensive range of baked and continental cheesecakes, specialty cakes, tortes, mudcakes, desserts and savoury products. In some instances a range of coffee, iced drinks and confectionery products may also be included in the range.

Do I need to know how to cook and decorate?

Experience in baking is not essential as initial training, documented recipes and procedures are provided.

Where do I buy my ingredients?

For reasons of public health and safety, only approved ingredients may be used in the manufacture of authorised products. Approved ingredients may be purchased from United Network Suppliers, a related company of the Franchisor, or from alternate nominated suppliers.

Can I buy a store and employ a manager to run it?

The Cheesecake Shop store performs best under the control of a “hands on” owner operator who takes an active role in the day to day operations.

How much does a store cost?

The cost of a brand new store varies depending on the options selected for the store. Details may be obtained from the relevant Master Franchisee.

What about buying an existing store?

The price of an existing store depends on a range of factors like trading history, condition of the store, opportunities for growth, community, demographics and the remaining amount of time on the Franchise Agreement. The cost is negotiated by the vendor Franchisee after your Franchise Application has been considered and approved by the Master Franchisee. When you buy an existing store, you pay a training fee to the Master Franchisee and you may need to purchase the vendor’s stock on hand at an agreed price.

What about ongoing costs?

The Master Franchisee charges a royalty which is direct debited from your business bank account on a weekly basis. The Master Franchisee also charges an advertising levy which is also direct debited from your business bank account on a weekly basis. What is the term of a Franchise Agreement?

A new store’s Franchise Agreement is for an initial term of 5 years plus a renewal term of 5 years. The term of an existing store’s Franchise Agreement is dependent on the time left on that store’s issued Agreement.

Do I own the premises or are they leased?

Generally, the Master Franchisee leases the site and then provides access to the Franchisee via a Licence to Occupy Premises.

What guarantees do I get that the store will be a success?

None at all. The Cheesecake Shop franchise system provides you with the tools to operate a store. How you use those tools is up to you. Like many business ventures, there is an element of risk involved. Buying any business is a major decision and should not be taken lightly. We recommend that you carry out your own research and take legal, financial and business advice before deciding to purchase any business.
